View Full Version : Cheep power increase for 400EX??

I need help for give a little more power to my 400EX, but I need it to be real cheep, because my wife get mad when i told she what im gona buy.
Please help i will appresiate a lot.

K&N filter - $25

Slip-on exhaust - $260

14 tooth sprocket - $15

Drop-in cam - $150

High comp. piston - $140

All prices are in american. and are just estimates.

i would go with the K&N filter 1st. and then a pipe.

you can also drill holes or take off your air box lid and then rejet. Only problem with that is you will have to clean the filter more often.

I think the Best Bang for a horsepower increase would be a Piston and Cam. Those will be around $300 together.

drill holes in you air box lid or take it off($0)...get a new filter the stock are near as good as aftermarket(less than $40 for most)...sparks pipe or white bros e-series pro-meg(about $500 full system maybe less)...re jet(4 bucks)...piston and cam(300 bucks or less could be wrong)...14 tooth c/s sprocket(about 14 bucks)... idk how much money you want to spend b/c idk what u consider cheep but if it were me i would get the 14 c/s spocket, k&n air filter drill holes in your air box i wouldnt do a few big hole i would do alot of small holes b/c not as much water can get in though the small holes,and a good re jet this all adds up to be under 100 bucks (all prices are american)hope i could help!!!

if you get the K&N you better go with a je kit too or you will run lean and that is the last thing you want

hey i would get a k and n and then take your air box lid off and then rejet the carb. you can also take the baffle out of your muffer. it wont be spark arrested but may increase power a little until you can afford the pipe. the piston would help you to and they are pretty cheap and you can get a 440 bore kit for like 200 bucks but then you need your cylender acually bored buy or dealer or somthing
