how is gearing on a 300ex when its at 14/36 i just bought a 14 front and i ahve a 36 rear and i race mx should it be good for racing or no.

With 18 inch tires it's right on the mark for MX racing. Though some we race with use a 15/38 setup.

A 14/46 gives a final reduction ratio of .388 while a 15/38 gives a .394. The difference isn't enough to worry about performance wise.

The 14/36 is safer because you can grind down the case saver to fit. It doesn't fit at all with the 15/38.

Agree, should be perfect with 18" tires. (Disclaimer, I don't race MX. I raced XC.)

sweet i race with 18s but i trail ride with 20s so would it be ok.
