I have a '02 400ex that i would like to make into a nice trail quad. Its basically stock and the biggest thing i feel it needs are some shocks. The rear shock seems to do alright, but the fronts just aren't cutting it anymore. I know elka has a good rep for trail suspension and mx for that matter and i was wondering if anyone had some suggestions. I am looking at spending around $600 and am open to other brands as well, i just want to get the best for my money. I'm not sure if i need rezzies since i am just doing aggressive trail riding. Also how well would these shocks perform compared to a pair of stock 450r shocks. Oh yea im running stock standard travel a-arms as well.

Elkas will do fine it you're just a recreational rider. For alittle bit more than 600 you can get new elkas compression and preload adjustable, which will be an extremely good setup. Much better than the R shocks. You might also consider getting your rear redone to accompany the fronts.
