View Full Version : shocks? +2+1+3-6-1+2-1+3-4+1+2???

i have to admit guys i have no idea what all these numbers mean pertaining to shocks and a-arms!!! i was raised when people "run what ya brung"!!! i bought my 400 thinking i would be riding at the river or at the dunes but now i got back to the track and i,honestly, dont know the first thing about buying arms and shocks!! any help would be really helpful. thanks.

The +'s refer to inches in length over stock. Example +2+1 arms are 2 inches wider than stock as well as being 1 inch farther forward. As far as shocks go...dual rates have two springs with different stiffnesses. Triple rates have three springs with different spring rates. And shocks with resevoirs have the oil in a canister separate from the shock so the oil does not heat up or get foamy when riding hard. Hope some of this helps.
