hey i was just wondering what are the differences between the 86 trx250r swingarm, shock linkage, axle, carrier, brakes and the 85 atc250r. i know the brake stay is different but what else is different

the 85 uses a different swinger and carrier and some say they use a different axle. stick with 86 and up parts. the 85 has a brace that holds in the rear brake, smaller carrier, smaller bolts on the shock linkages, also you can't use a anti-fade on a 85 either. I built a 85 for woods riding and I used a lsr 86-89 axle, stock brake hub and durablue lock nut. the dog bones on the 85 and 86 are the same as a 86 trx250r, 87-89 use different dogbones, the frame linkege piece in the same in all years, the bushings changed for the bigger bolt. Stay with a 86 and up setup, parts are easier to get.

can't forget you have to get the correct brake stay, brake stay bushing, caliper plate. What is wrong with your swinger and such on it now?

you can't use a anti-fade on a 85, I have a lsr axle, carrier and put a lsr anti-fade it and rubbed , you have to use the stock brake hub, I used a durablue locknut.
