On another post in this forum there is a site that has the gear ratios for different size sprockets on a stock 400ex. Does anyone know how much this will change for a 416ex. My 416 with the mods in my sig has way to much low end and im getting smoked by z 400's and of course 450's in long straights and on not very technical tracks. any suggestion s on what to do or if there is a chart out there for a modded 400

Here is the chart.

The same chart applies to fully modded as well as a stock 400, the transmission gearing is mechanically fixed and does not change due to modds. The more HP you make the taller gear you can pull, It's just that simple. Stock is 15/38 maybe try a 16/38 and see how it feels.:D

Try the stock 15/38 and see how that feels. you will pick up a few mph over the 14/37 set up:)

Considering that a one tooth change on the front is about equivalent to a three tooth change on the rear, if you are running a 14/37 now I would try going to a 15/37. Stock gearing is 15/38 as others have said, and by leaving the rear at a 37, you will retain some of the low-end you like but will gain some good top-end power with the larger front sprocket, considering the front makes the drastic differences while the back just kind of helps to dial in the bike and make it feel right to you or your riding conditions. Hope that this makes sense.

i used to run 14/38 and was good on stock motor but once i installed the bigger bore, 1st gear wasnt really usable. i use stock gearing now and love it, has good torque and very nice accel, but not bad on top end. i would change it though if you drag race. on a track it is good.
