I bought a UM swingarm skidplate and now I hit everything, I feel better riding with the stock one that barely dragged on most terrain. I think i had reduced my ground clearance to 3 inches or less. Does anyone make an aluminum skidplate that offers the same ground clearance as the stock skidplate?

i doubt it, the stocker pretty much is a piece of plastic that lays directly on the swinger etc, other skid plates are designed to protect your parts, AC racing would be your best bet, mine seems to offer as much ground clearance as possible

if you want very good quality at good price go PRM all the way

I like my set-up. GT Thunder disc, and modified my stock skidplate to just cover the brake rotor, has worked great so far.

Does the AC skidplate sit very close to the sprocket and disc like the stock one? How much of a gap is there between everything?

it sits about 7/8 of an inch away from the brake rotor, and about 1/3 of an inch away from the chain, but has a chain slider thing built on it, you are also able to run a LT linkage and shock without having to modify the skid plate

they must have really improved AC skids, as easily as they used to bend, you would think they were made out of aluminum cans

if you ride in PA only get the PRM 1/4 then you know your safe from the ACs ive seen the bend super easy especially in the PA rocks

I've thought about your setup Spinc, but the only drawback I see is if the carrier housing isn't protected, and it hits a rock very hard, you'll never get the carrier out.

I thought about that but I guess I'll risk it. I need to get the small LSR skid for the rotor side still, the modified stocker is doing the job for now.

I just started using pro-armor, this stuff is heavy duty and a great fit.

For all the guys that responded to this what is the ground clearance under the skidplate at its lowest point under the carrier, I wanna get another aluminum one, but Im already out $64 and dont want to spend more money and be unsatisfied. Thanks
