I recently installed the sparks big core on my 06 and noticed after a good day of riding, the head pipe is turning purple. I thought it may be a little on the lean side so I checked the plug and it was fine in color. Do these new pipes (06's) suppose to change colors? My brother has an 04 with sparks and his didn't change.
I'll make a phone call this week to find some answers. Anybody else's doing this?

How much better does it run with the Sparks?

When stainless steel gets hot it will turn colors like titanium will. The 06 also seems to have hotter exhaust gas temps.

I believe the turning purple of the headpipe is normal. I know many bikes that their pipes are purple sometimes all the way near the end of the curve.

Its just from the heat:)

okay I figured it out, the reason my brother's header didn't turn purple is because mine has more power than his:D :D :D

feels like it's got more torque and a little on the loud side, almost too loud.
