with the retail price pushing $7k on a 450r(or any quad for that matter), i was curious why the quad industry hasnt really made any great strides in technology, like an alum frame. when they are so concious on weight, why not throw an alum frame under it? sportbikes have all alum frames, fuel injection, and many other far more technological improvements for very little more money.

I know what your saying, aluminum frames from the factory. But LRD racing already has made an aluminum frame. If it came as an option stock it would be awesome I agree.

the raptor 700 is half aluminum, the atk/cdales are all alum. Its only a matter of time before factories make their atv frames alum like the dirt bike frames

The quad would probably cost a lot more wouldn't it? But that would be nice.

exactly
the stock steel, rusty frames arent crazy strong anyway. and alum can be made easily as strong as a gusseted steel frame. they can cram high hp motors in them on the street, for almost the same money.
on an atv we tend to get em dirty, occasionally a scratch, rool , and MAYBE a crash(ha), so an alum frame would stop the rust spots.
i think they wont do it because they have no reason to. we are gonna buy em if they make them out of balsa wood. honda, suzuki, etc are gonna sell no matter what, so why go thru the extra cost and effort?
