i went riding today with a bunch of my friends. my one friend has a LT 250r. im thinking about selling my 250x and buying it. do you think i could get $1800 for it
alot of those parts arent in the pic.

you might be able to get 1800. 1600 would be more realistic though. And dont waste your money on an LT 250r. Wait and get a honda 250r.

well, any 250 2 stroke is gonna fly, but you will run into reliability issues with the LT. The honda will be more reliable, plus it looks and handles way better. Thats just my opinion though. Don't waste your money on a 400ex unless its some amazing fully decked out 440. They severely lack in the power department, and you will get bored with it fast.

Ahh... The ole reliability horsechit issue with LT250R's again... :rolleyes: And the Honda 250R is so much more reliable? As I've stated in other threads, I've had my LT for about 8 years now. It's certainly no more maintenance hassle than any other 2-stroke. Most of the money in mine has been aftermarket upgrades. And yes, I'm looking for my third frame. Jumping and crashing takes it's toll on an OEM frame. Other than that, I scratch my head as I try to think of any reliabilty issues with the LT. The 250R with the rake on the front-end handles jumps a little better. But actually the LT front-end handles as well or better in other situations. To each their own. do you like your LT better than other quads like 400ex

how much to you rebuild it

whats the biggest probly youve had with it?

and what would you say
a LT 250 or somting else
not like 450r or anything like that

im not gonna let it go for 1500, i put over 1500 into it.
it has about 15 hours on the new top end and about 4 rides on the plastic

I have anywhere from 4,500 to 5,000 into my 300ex and I would have a hard time getting 2,500. 300ex's just dont hold there value.

ill talk to my dad tommarow, i probly could get 1700 for it around here. people arent into quads and dont know to much about them

why dont anyone like the lt? i liked it, it handled great in the woods and has a lot of power

my brothers 2001 400ex sold for $1500

his had

new piston rings and gasket
works front shocks
aftermarket razr tires
Uni air filter
Renthal handlebars
tether switch
plastic wasnt hurt

I would start at $1800

i like it but there is better stuff oout now with around the same price you can get a z400 for around 2k what are you buying the lt for

i want a 2 stroke. im sick of 4s. i like the sound better its more snappy power. easier to work on and lighter.

i cant afford a 250r if i had the money i would get it.

Yes, I like my LT better than the 400EX. I certainly like it better than my Raptor! With purchase price of $2700, I have almost 13k into it! I would take my LT over previous generations of quads. Even over most of the latest sport/race quads. Last year I got to drag my LT against a 450R with only a pipe kit. I beat him by about 1-2 quad lengths. He said hearing me shift faster than him screwed him up, so we did it again. Same result. I was quite happy my 12 year-old quad performed that well. Although admittedly, I have much more $ into mine than he did his. All that said, I would probably like the YFZ better than my LT, and can't wait to see how the new LT-R450 performs. If it is as good as we hear, I may have an old AND new LT in my garage! :D

im gonna talk to my dad tommarow and talk to my friend on the bus on tuesday about buying it.

ill probly clean it up a little and put some front bearings into it and get some ITP holeshots and a new piston

If I were you I would buy a fully modded Yamaha blaster with all suspension compnents and engine mods like a 240 blaster with aftermarket a-arms swingarm axle and suspension sounds like it would fit you and they go for cheap

a blaster with a 240 kit will flat out haul:huh

yeah i have. ive ridden a 400ex blaster LT 300ex shee and other quads. and theres no where i can try out a z 400 at and idk anyone who has one

Not more then 1500. Its a 250x. I just sold my 2002 400ex with more then 2,000 in it for 2,300. You have no resale value on quads, especially not one that old and slow.

If I can get rid of my blaster soon and you still are looking to sell it I would give you around 1500 - 1600 for the 250 and what year is it and how does it run have you had any problems with it. Where are you from in Northeast, Pa I live in Scranton.

i live about 10 miles away from milford.

the only problem that it has is the 3rd gear skips but im probly getting a bottom end soon (maybe) and a new rear shock (stock) because that one is all springy.
besides that it runs great. lots of power. it has about 13 or 14 hours on it. hasent been abused. everything is greased. new bearings in the swinger.

A z- 400 is like a 250ex compared to a 250r of any kind. I would like to see that craptor of yours up against a 330PV. You would get wasted.

The new 450s are not that heavy, have good snap as you call it, the way i see it is you just dont have the money for one. That is a common problem in this sport it cost a lot of $$$$$$$

When I was in college my best riding friend had and LT and all he ever did was work onit. Jetting, rings, head, piston skirt, bearings, a screw came loose in the motor and tore it to hell. I had my 400ex and another buddy had a 205R. We never had problems, the LT rider dumped 3g into keeping it running while i went out and bought a new 450R he was still spending money on his LT.

I still ride my honda 450 he parted out his LT and rides a 440ex and wishes he would have done it years before

zerologic do you have a mod list and any other pictures of your 300 I would probbly give you around 1700 maybe more if I can get rid of my blaster soon and you still have it.

Well, I wouldnt go as far as saying 4 strokes are a pain. Electric strat is a pain. jwick07, if I had 8000 dollars, I'd buy a modded 450r. But my thought is money for horespower. Ill get more HP out of a 265R than a piped and camed 450r, for 1/2 the price. Plus to buy a 450 with PEP shocks and +3 a arms, swinger, axle, motor work, ect, woould run me around 8 grand, when I can get a 250r with all that stuff for 3500. Sure I could go get a stock 450r for 4200, but they arent that fast, nor are they very torquey.

excatly too. i hate electric start rather have a kicker. ive worked on four strokes for like 3 years now. i was at my friends house today (the one that i might buy the quad from) and he was shwoing me how to replace the pison. he said he replaced his top end in one hour.

I'm not looking to sell it until the end of the summer because thats when I will have all of my money to buy another quad. I'm looking for around $2,200-$2,100 or a trade for a 250r with cash on my part, but I can't sell it now for the reason stated above. Please dont say I won't get that much for the machine someone will buy it either by where I live or off this site.

yea I no what they sell for around here I live in scranton not to far from milford and was just offering 1700 to 1800 you can probbaly get more out of it but i just offered that much because thats about what i will get from selling my blaster but if you are intrested in selling it sooner probbly not though i would be intrested in it when i sell my blaster.
