I just put a .030 wiseco piston in my honda 250r. The normal gas:oil ratio was 20:1. I need to know what ratio to use now with the new piston. Thanks.

I've always run 32:1 in all of my bikes. The news oils out today are pretty forgiving, so you have a little room either way. The most important thing is to make sure that you're jetted right. You can run 20:1, but I don't think it does anything but clogg stuff up quicker.

When I had my R I ran 40 to 1 with it jetted correctly

Bore size does not matter, and also will not have much effect on jetting, especially not this small a jump in size. I prefer BelRay MC-1 mixed at 50 to 1.

You should run what the oil manufacturer suggests. Different oils are run at different mixture ratios. Not every oil will blend the same, so you need to contact the company of the oil you are running for them to tell you. Im a fan of klotz R50 @ 32:1. Best oil out there IMO.

you might want to run a little higher ratio for the break in period, but after that i would say about 50:1. that is what I always ran and i used Motul and a little bit of ER as well.

The 250r will actually make slightly more power with more oil, all the way up to 8:1 (beyond that, it just starts fouling the plugs). However, with a name-brand oil, it's also more expensive that way.

In reality, you're safe anywhere from 20:1 all the way to 50:1. Me, personally, I run 40:1, but that's because I'm lazy.
