you picked a good one. i like the mounting of it a lot better than the pep. i had the older pep and didn't like it at all. made steering very stiff. i race with some guys who have the denton and they really like it a lot.

actually i had a denton on my R and my 400, the one on my 400 blow out after only like 2 months and i replaced it with the new style pep one and i like it, it very easy to mount and works great, its alos rebuildable, i think denton makes a rebuildable on but its pretty expensive.here is the 400 with the pep.

I purchased a rebuildable Denton from The Quad Shop after shopping around quite awhile. I love it I am much more confident in the woods and can ride almost a gear higher in the woods because of it. It make the ride much less of a fight and much more of a ride.

I owned 2 old PEPs and they worked fine but mounted poorly and looked like crap. My Denton mounts under the tank and is not very visable.

It takes alot of the bump steer and what not out of the steering. It makes for a smoother ride.

Its basically a shock absorber that can be set at different stiffness's. So yes it does make it a tad harder to steer or turn the handle bars. But when you travel over the whoops or really rutted areas where they tend to make the bars want to turn and whip back and forth out of control it tends to keep the handle bars more straight and stable.....did I lose you?

I've had a rebuildable Denton for 2 years with no problems so far. The Pep, Denton, and Speed Racing Muscle (from Magic Racing) are all 7 position rebuildable steering dampners. The only differences between them that I'm aware of is the way they mount. A friend has a Pep, I have a Denton, and Rico runs the Speed Muscle. Unless you have a preference on the way it mounts, I got the one that was the cheapest at the time (Denton thru Magic Racing, $135 I think it was).

I also mounted mine different than most people. I see a lot of people with the adjuster out at the front bumper. If I hit something or someone on the trail, odds are the front end is going to be involved. So mines mounted Almost stright in line front to back, with the adjuster back towards the engine. I can easily adjust it by reaching down with my left hand while sitting on the quad. This works on a 300EX, but the oil tank might be in the way on a 400EX.

do those new style PEP's impede your oil changing abilities much?? looks like they cover the dipstick a lil bit.

yep, they do make it a tad bit harder to get the dipstick out. you have to work it around to get it in or out.

Two of my friends have the rebuildable peps one started leaking after a few rides. The other snapped the one end off. three way adjustment and you have to unbolt it to adjust. I have a denton on my banshee and my 400 have had no problems with them 7 way adjust and you don't have to un bolt it. for the extra money i would go with the denton.
