I just hope some arsehole doesn't go and strip them down and turn them into racers. That would be a shame.http://users.adelphia.net/~sdmccabe/ebay/016702/1.JPG

It's missing a sticker:o

Someone up here has a 88/89 that I see outside thier garage every so offten, it looks to be all original, before I go off to college I wanna save up some money and make them an offer for it. Then restore it.

Come on guys...even though they are shined up you can still se that they are in mint condition. WD-40 does not add the edges back onto the knobbies or remove rust from the axles or take scratches out of the paint. You have to admit, these bikes are in the top 10% of any "original" 250r you have ever seen.

I agree 100%, but W-D does add something to it too. I wonder what reserve is on these things.

I think the tires were replaced though, but not a big deal. There are little signs of wear or use on other spots on the quads, and the tires, especially the front, show NO wear.

I wish all the really nice ones weren't in oregon or california. The guy YFZRob and 2strokefreak bought their 88's from has another one that he is listing for $6K

The red 86 above has the reserve met at $3900 which isn't so bad, but as much as I would love to have a super mint 250R of all years, it'd be such a waste of money at 6K. They'd be too nice to ride, and that is the whole reason to own a 250R - It's a 2-stroke and it handles great.

WHY WHY WHY WON'T THEY MAKE ANOTHER ONE!!!!!

You can tell it has been ridden alittle bit by the stator cover. It has been scratched from the shifter. Still, it is in the best shape I have ever seen one in.

I dont want them to make them again. If they did...they wouldnt be rare...and the legend would be new.

Final sale price of over $14000 WTF that's crazy but cool at the same time.

Check this out though - as an investment I figure those 250R's averaged an 8% return per year based on these selling prices. That's not too bad. If they had never been ridden, I'm sure they could have fetched around 10K each minimum. That would be 27% ROI.

Too bad you didn't know that back then.
