picked up my front end today along with a lsr sprocket hub and antifade. axle will be here saturday. wow, i cant wait to get this on and do a review for everybody. this is like a dream come true for me. i know its no extravagant long travel front end but i was surprised when the shocks measured 18" eye to eye. i have a good feeling this is going to work extremely well. i'll keep this thread going as i continue the rebuild.

Nice setup! Make sure to do a review on those Ishocks. I've been wondering how they work. Also someone told me they're like triple rate, with all three of the springs coiled together, I thought it sounded bogus. Is there any truth behind that?

coryatver
12-30-2005, 10:45 PM
its called progressive rate

Moto92
12-30-2005, 11:01 PM
the coils never get any tighter so i dont see how they could be progressive rate.

400exMO
12-30-2005, 11:03 PM
Progressive coils get closer together as they progress up. So they're not progressive.

12-31-2005, 12:15 AM
i believe they are progressive, if not the springs, then the valving, id love to hear a review about these, always been curious about how these worked, glad to hear you have a new shock setup :macho

i will do the review as soon as i get everything on, lol! i just got the stuff a day ago. i know fellas, i cant wait as much as you cant, i'm dying to get em on. it is going to be great! yes, the valving is progressive. i am waiting on an axle so i should be able to do a full review by wensday or thursday. this set up should be matched with a precision damper huh?! :macho

got em all mounted up. they feel awesome! i didnt get to ride it yet because i still have to do the brakelines. one thing i dont get is my camber on the top balljoints is adjusted all the way in and my tires still bow out...pretty noticably. i really hope i put the bolt and locknut on the right way. i mean, i'm not an idiot but i think it looks right, idk. feels real plush and nice! here are some quick snaps after today.

no. it just seems like there should be more top adj. and its al the way tight. should i take the nut off and have the arms up against the ball joint? cause that will do it..

I think it would be better too if you measured and adjusted the camber with the bike off the stand.

Pappy
01-02-2006, 10:24 AM
the upper arms are on upside down. fix that and you can start adjusting.

also, square your ball joints, you do not want them at funky angles when the quad is sitting level.

Jersey450R
01-02-2006, 10:47 AM
i switched the arms up and it still looks the same. they look to be identical. i did take it off the stand and adjusted everything including tie rods and ball joints. if anyone wants me to take a pic of anthing i can. i'm hopeing i didnt get the wrong ball joints..

Did you switch the uppers as in you took the right one and put it on the left side, or did you flip them? It looks like you need to flip the uppers over, but just keep the right one on the right side and the left one on the left side.

no, you cant. should i just take out the gold nut on the inside of the upper balljoints? cause that will make it right..or will this hurt anything?

Pappy
01-02-2006, 01:48 PM
there are 2 nuts there for a reason, and its to keep your ball joint tight.

id measure the upper arm and see if they did not by mistake send you the wrong upper arms. ive seen that happen with alot of companies.

ok, heres my fix. i deceided to take the dremel out and cut one of the bolt vertically. came out real nice on the grinder and wheel. it worked and gave me a nice -2 camber. we'll have to see how well my suffice works. i dont know what was wrong in the 1st place. i tried every arm combination and nothing worked.

so here is where i am now.

Jersey450R be sure to check your PM's.

To clear it all up for everyone it seems Jersey450R came across a kit with our old style ball joints for the TRX450. This was a manufacturing error on our end and has since been fixed.

If anyone else comes across this issue in the future give us a call at 866-Go-iShock or contact us through www.ishock.com and we'll be sure to get you taken care of.

Look for the review after at least saturday. my axle just came in so i'll be working on that for today. i'll tell you the shocks feel great just messing around. a world over stock but i didnt really get to test how they felt under a hard moto. when i get the axle on, i'll have a better idea of how the whole quad will handle because right now, i'm wider up front. oh, and i'll tell everyone this kit with the stock rims and 20" mx tires up front, it exactly 49" wide. :)

Jersey450R
01-05-2006, 11:44 AM
ok, so the axle came in this morning. i was so excited to finally get it in after dialing the front end in yesterday. i immediatly got to work. only took about half an hour and now my project is almost complete.

well, i got out today and gave the quad a good hard ride and let me tell you, the suspension just soaked up everything i threw at it. the whole quad is alot more predictable and stable. i took a trail with huge whoops at 4th-5th gear full throttle and the bike was very precise. the axle today was a breeze and everything stayed tight so i'm a happy man. want to say thank you to Motion Enterprises here in hammonton for the support. i'll be going to florida on the 19th for 4 days to ride so i'll hopefully have so action pics for you guys. i cant wait to jump this thing and really see what it has.

I like those acerbis's! How strong does the mounting feel compared to others?

The mounting hardware feels just as strong as the 2 peice Maier. I couldnt tell you how much they are because they were a freebie :p. one thing is on the 450R, i had to use a few small washers to get the clamp to fit on the right side due to the front brake master cylinder jetting out so far. but all is good and they look and feel great.

Dudes are real cool over at Motion. When i ordered the axle, the order didnt say it came with a sprocket hub. But since parts unlmtd. messed up the order and i received an axle with one already installed, i took back the sprocket hub i had layin around. scott credited my account but i had origionally said i wanted to trade the hub for the handgaurds. so as i was leavin, he threw me the handgaurds. :)

ok, so the review on these shocks is going to continue because i cant stop thinking about it. what a great ride. i went out yesterday for a couple hours and finally got to do some jumping and fast riding. the ishocks soaked up anything i threw at em. i dove right into corners in 2nd that i usually had to put in 1st due to the braking bumps. i landed pretty awkward on purpose to see how they did and i cannot complain one bit. the ishock front suspension kit works perfect. I didnt get to ride track yet but when i do, i think i'll turn the compression and rebound up one click (one click makes a huge difference) and maybe let some preload out. I'll be hittin some tracks up in Florida and along the east coast in a couple weeks so i'll try and post some pics if i get any.

the combination of the front and back width really compliment eachother now. i dont have to lean, or muscle the bike as much as i used to. I have been in touch with ishock and they let me in on some news but i'm not sure if i can say it or not. i dont know if i'm supposed to let it out but i'm telling you i will be the 1st to buy this if they do come out with it. the customer service over there is next to none. great people to deal with.

Great looking set up man. I rode a z-400 with that set up this weekend and it felt amazing. Very plush ride.
