i have a 300ex that i only do trail and sand pit rideing with. i need to know the pros and cons of both the metal rear sprocket and a aluminum rear sprocket

aluminum sprockets will wear faster than steel ones

i wouldnt get the aluminum ones unless you were really worried about weight. Id rather have an extra pound or 2 than replace sprockets monthlybut thats just me. So i run steel.

i have an aluminum sprocket by sun star and it takes a beeting and i havnt noticed any wear so far. i ride hard and put on alot of hours no problems yet.

Go with steel. Cheaper, lasts longer, and you're not going to see any benefit from the aluminum.

by the way, not being mean, but its aluminum vs steel, i still knew what ya meant tho. aluminum is metal also..

aluminum is alot lighter than steel thats why i was asking if aluminum was any better than steel

i dont think thats what he meant you were sayin aluminum v. metal and he was saying that that aluminum IS a metal,but we understood no harm done.

^correcto, I understood what ya meant, just clarifying. ;) Personally id go with a steel sprocket, the aluminum gets eatin up real fast where i ride (sand/dirt).
