I have a 300ex which will have a sparks full exhaust system along with a k&n filter and no lid and razrs all the way around by spring.
Now I am 24 yrs old and would be racing C in xc. I figure it is better to ride the quad I have instead of to run out and buy a new one not knowing how well I will like racing. Now I am not expecting to outrun the bigger bikes but I don't want to look like a fool either. Doesn't seem like I see too many 300ex's racing around where I have been so I just wanted to get your opinions.

I forgot to mention that I have full skid plates underneath, nerf bars and a front bumper.

To just start on I think the 300 would do fine, to get a feel for racing & to see if you like it!! IF you do like it you may want to step up, I think it would be a good CC quad, I raced my 300ex flattrack for 2 seasons & thats running against 250R's,450's ect I did decide that I needed more CC's so I'll ride my son's YFZ

I hear that alot of 300's race in the CC races, it's not always HP it's ALOT rider :) Hope this helps some, plus you can mod your 300 motor too to get some more HP, isn't there a "sport" class for 300's???? Good Luck

It's not a bad idea to give one race a shot on a 300. That should give you a good idea of if you want to get a bigger quad or not. There are several people who race 300's, it's just the majority of the people race the 400's or 450's. Skid plates are a must along with a good set of tires and some nerf bars are always nice! Just go out and give it your best effort. Don't expect to win just go out and have a good time!

A 300 would be fine. My uncle ran a trailblazer 250 in the Vet class and was betting 400ex's, Raptor's and Kawi 700's. He was even posting better results than a lot of young kids on 450's. It's all about knowing how to ride your quad.
