I am going to put a 440 kit in my EX. I previously put one in my XR400 so i know it is a simple mod...I am asking anyone with experience with this EX motor to advise me wether i should get the XR400 cam or some sort of aftermarket cam. I will probably get FMF headers also and go with maybe a 160-162ish main jet. anyone been here done this?? im not too worried about valve springs, etc because the 440 isnt a revver anyway. any advice please?

i'd say go with the XR400 cam for the 440 kit. It is a good low end cam and should work well with that sett up.

I have a White Bros track cam in mine it really helps with the r's. If you go that route get the spring kit so you don't float the valves.

I have the White Brothers race cam (479 grind). Its a pretty aggressive cam, definately need springs with it. Hardened rockers are an option.

I like it alot, and its sounds cool when it idles :)

Hmmm.... i dont know. this is a trail quad so i dont really need to get nuts. How does the XR cam compare to the aftermarket cams? The XR is not exactly a speed demon either so i am a little hesitant to put an XR cam in. actually, as off road bikes go the XR is dog *** slow... but fun in the w oskinda like a stock 400ex
