I got board and made some air scoops

I decided that the stock air scoops where ugly as hell and i figured why not make my own instead of spending 80 bucks on aftermarket ones. after a couple hours of making templates and some cutting the aluminun and bending, here is the outcome.

how do they look in person , honestly , will they shine up well? and look like aftermarket. I tell ya what , if your willing and they do look nice ill pay you 15 bucks to make me a set .

I think that they look pritty good in person. i dont think that will shine, if they are polished because thay are made out of 3000 series aluminum, but they do look like after market. but ill make some for yea if you pay 15 +shipping back to you

They look good, but I would have flared them out about another 1 1/2" or so.

Yea i was thinking about it, but these where the first ones i have ever made so i stuck strickly to the design of the stock ones. i might mess around with the design a little more.

Looks like you might be able to start a lil' side business because I am sure many "R" owners would like to purchase a set of scoops that are Cheaper than the name brand items.

alright 440ex , youve got a deal. Make up the set you are going to sell to me and post a pic when you have time. Flare them out a little bit more if you can. Look'in good, I made a template back a couple months ago. But I dont have a bender to do it properly. So the alumin. always gets scratched badly and kinked. Anyways I'd be willing to buy a set that has more flare aswell.

How thick can you make them?

I'd like a set made of diamond-plate, I think that would look sick. But it's generally much thicker than standard aluminum sheet, so I don't know if you have the capabilities to make them that thick.

i dont think i can. it would have to be hella thin diamond plate

Im in the process of making a new template to flare them out more and i should have a couple sets made by the end of the week. ill let you all know

i just ordered some .058 aluminum diamond tread (16 ga.) at work today and i`ll try out a set in a couple days and see if they bend up right, i work at a welding/ fabricating shop so i have the use of all the right tools, shears, brakes you name it we can do it

diamond plate will do fine. but your going to need a bigger bender, like a box and pan brake for sheet metal. How are you cutting the aluminum adam?

Sorry for not replying guys! my 250R was stolen from a local track here in Ohio and i really havent had time to make any. but maybe i will later. But i dont haven anything to put them on:mad: . I do have an exact template of the AC scoops i can go by that i guess.
