i was wondering if all the problems the 400ex had with rev boxes if these nuances apply to the 300ex.also do they actually help it run better or just extend the rev limiter?almost all of them say"modded advance"curves i was wondering if this was snake oil (bullsh..):D

Some have timing advances, but most just have an rev limit increase. Which is going to be your bigger boost on the 300ex anyway. It's limited to something crazy in the 7200rpm range if I remember right, been a long time since I've looked it up. Mine's boosted to 11,000 rpms. ;)

theres no way i would want mine turning those kind of rpms.they have rocker arms for crying out loud:D im just wondering if the timing advance in the boxes help the motor.i dont use a lot of rpm.i have almost a 86mm piston, its all mid range torque and low end;)

I would give Curtis Sparks a call. I had a modified CDI from him on my EX.

I don't run it at the limiter.. lol. It's actually somewhere between 10k and 11k. 9600 rpms are safe for a decent length of time. I don't run around on gravel roads. :) I only boosted mine up for a better pull to the 1st corner when I was racing the MHSC series. ;) Keep pullin in 3rd rather than having to let off to pop it into 4th. I never spend more than 5 seconds above 9500 rpms. The rest of the time I spend around 7000 rpms there my peak power is.

Your monster piston would be working hard at 8000rpm's though.. lol.
