It wont SMOKE smoke it, but it will beat it pretty good. Thats in a drag race though. If you have an awesome rider on the 250, and a not so good rider on the 300, on any sort of track thats not just wide open, the 250 would probably win.

250ex is shaft driven, auto clutch, and an entry level quad.
300ex is chain driven, manual clutch, and can be modded to race.

those are probablly the main differences. the 250ex is for smaller , inexperienced riders. you cant really modd them like u can a 300ex. the 300ex is basiclly a step up from the 250.

a 300ex will beat a 250ex anywhere anytime with equal riders, unless your riding on really rutted out trails or somthing. the one thing i loved about my old 250 was the ground clearance it had. it would go over about anything on the trail.

I chose my 250EX over a 300EX, I don't race, I just do pure trails and a good amount of creek riding. Didn't have a need for a 300.

The 250EX hangs right with the 300EX or a little behind, but when you get to 5th the 300 starts to pull away.

If traction is an issue, the 250EX can pull past the 300 easy, since the 250 hooks up a little better. Top end the what hampers the 250 so bad. It's torquey, not fast. ;)

with the right rider, a 300ex will hook up way better than a 250ex...manual over auto...clutch control is the key

I will not lie And I'm telling the honest pure and straight truth

I raced 2 300ex's and 1 250x And the guy with the 250x had a pipe jet kit airfilter, and my quad was stock I got beat a considerable amount. My quad was stock.

I raced a guy 2005 300ex with a cobra pipe and i beat it in a drag in top end, I'm a very light person and that could be the reason I edged ahead by a quad lenght. My quad was stock then.

Then I raced a girl with a 2002 300ex with a Powercore 4 pipe and some other non performance mods. We both had bald 22 inch stock tires, but my quad was completely stock. She hadn't ridden for a long time which made it more equal riders.

I beat her off the start a tiny bit and then we stayed even till i got to about the top of third gear and she pulled ahead. I lost by 2 quad lenghts.

You were talking about a 250x,bro.

That's a different quad.

The guys above were talking about the 250ex that uses the recon engine.

We agree that the 250x is a faster quad than the 300ex. The 300ex sacrificed speed and acceleration for torque.

However, the above guys were talking about the 250EX which is a bit slower than the 300ex.

They should have named the 250ex something different IMHO. A bit confusing at times.
