250x or 300ex

what is the diff. in the 250x and the 300ex. which ones faster and which one is better.

Actually, the 250X is faster because of the fact that it has a higher rev limiter and I think the bore or stroke is different from a 300 as well.

Yup I do beleive he's right.

the 250x has a kick start, the 300ex is electric.
the 250x is faster at accelrating because it has a shorter stroke
the 300ex is a tad bit faster at long distance racing

if your going to race i would go with teh 250x IMO

yeah go with the 250x for racing, bore it to 300 and get some nice shocks.

I would go with the 250x, I had a 300ex, and I hated all the problems I had with the electrics. Other than that, the motor is practicaly bullet proof.

yep... all around faster stock to stock comparison and even better when built. And the later 250x models( '91 & '92 ) had electric start if your not a fan of kickstarting !

The 250x should be a little lighter but they are pretty much the same machine. It really depends on what your doin with it. I don't think 250x has reverse. Sometimes electric start is better sometimes kick. I think that they should put kick and electric start on some quads(like the old motorcycles). I loved my 300ex and now I have a blaster. I sold the 300 because I got a good price for it and it sat in my shed for too long and the battery was always dead. I got a blaster for $200.00 and rebuilt the whole thing in 3 weeks. It usually starts 3-5 kicks when I leave it sit.

250x's have reverse. it's almost the same engine as the 300ex.

It's the exact same engine, except for some minor changes with the stroke and bore.

not quite. the 250x has a shorter stroke, same bore at the 300 though. i have had both, my 250x was definatle faster in a drag but overall they were about the same other the the 300 had mor bottom end.

Prepracing-no elec. start unti the 300ex in 1993.

jab300ex- 250x had reverse, slightly different actuator than the 300, but still a PITA to work.

no, i have a 250x and my brother has a 300ex and im a little bit of a better rider than he is, and we drag raced and he had my in top speed but not in accelation
its about 2 or 3 miles faster

i think i would have to say the 250 is faster but id rather go with the 300 just cus its a little newer.but you cant beat the prices of some old 250's i have to say

there reliable you can restore them they are quicker and old school, also they are kick start.
