If I were going to sell mine and buy an '06, I think I would buy a kicker again. I have heard somethings about the battery not being able turn the motor over as good, as say a 400ex.

My kicker has never let me down, so I see no reason to switch.

I bought my 05 for the kicker. I dont want elec start. Even if I went back to the YFZ I would put a kicker on it. I just like the peice of mind knowing the battery will never let me down.

Iceracer65 your friend is the only one I have found with that problem thus far. Most are just having the slow starting. I say get whatever you want.

Go ahead and try to find a kicker at a dealer, they are special order only and none of them around here have them. I personally dont like the kicker, i mean owning 400 before this, its so much better to just push a button and go, Its only 6 pounds difference.

BTW im getting the 450ER and cant wait. They are so much better we had them lined up to the 05 and man what a difference. This subframe looks a lot stronger too.

KICK START!! Totally Reliable, it always starts if you know the proper procedure.

I just bought my 06 450R with the electric start and honestly when I got it home I was not thrilled with it but as the day went on I found that the starting promblem that I was having was user error..I was giving it gas when trying to start it up but i found that if it is cold pull the choke(self explanatory) and hold the start util it fires...no gas and after that no gas when tring to crank period it will fire up ...jmo

You can't find the kickers because they aren't available until feb or so. It sounds like a bunch of crap but 6 pounds is about like having another horse power. Don't get me wrong the electric is a good choice also.

If i were you I would get the kicker, lighter,it will be available then. Ithink for flying that would be best. Me I'm going to get the electric because I ride in the woods were there is alot of hills it is hard to hold the rear brake and kick a 4wheeler. my 2 cents.:D

one horsepower = being able to lift 500 pounds from the ground up one feet in one second flat

 Are you insane or something? I've never had to dial in my 05 once except like jetting which was perfect the 1st time I did it.

By saying dialed in, I'm sure he meant customizing it; (i.e. getting the suspension setup, graphics, handle bars, etc.)

yea i race TT soooo it take alot more set up and thinking every race than MX.

shock settings, swingarm length, motor setup, gearing etc. with all the changes they made to the '06, i would have to start all over.

So you say you have an '04? That doesn't keep you busy enough to wait another couple months for the '06 kicker?:huh

Why does everyone seem to think the electric is bad now? When the 400 first came out, nobody was saying, oh it should be kickstart. I've had my 400 for over 4 years, never a problem from the electric start.

Plus I asked Baldwin, he is working on the slow starting issue.

Well if you dont touch the throttle and dont have the lights on, choke on, plug is not fouled, it will start first or second time turning over. If it is cold and not choked, you touch the gas, or something else is wrong, Might as well get the battery charger out because my brother killed the battery twice like this today on my 06.
