hmm.. get zone alarm, try to remove it with the scanner on it. then keep it running. once this is done, get firefox. internet explorer blows.

Cody - you have worms!! :eek2:

J/K

But seriously, you do have a worm. It uses its own SMTP engine to send itself as an email attachment. See the link below.

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sinnaka.a@mm.html:D

You need to use an virus scanning tool (Symantec or Mcafee) to detect and remove it. The "adware" tools are ok at finding the adware bugs but most cannot remove the worm/trojan bugs correctly.

I agree about the antivirus. You know, I assumed he had a updated antivirus program and has already ran it.
I mean, would anyone today cruise the internet without one running in the background?

I would suggest not using an "online" tool. These will not gain complete access to the windows registry which is where 99.9% of all the worms will hide. It's best to get a "known" tool that you install and will scan on a regular basis.

If you are just surfing the web the odds of getting a virus are actually pretty low. The big issue is email. People get SPAM all the time and this is where the majority of the issues come from. Someone will send you a link for free porn or how to get rich. You click the link and WHAM...you got hooked. They will inject a program onto you system and either "sniff" around for user data and install a "bot" that can control your system (using it for whatever purpose they like)....hell...if you have a web cam they can even take control of that and see whatever the camera is pointing at. Scary stuff.

IMO...everyone should have a local "firewall" and a good anti-virus program that is always in active mode (running all the time).

gmail is pretty good...but not everyone has it...if you look at the most common free email application it would have to be yahoo. And like i said it only take one click to get infected. It's better to be safe then sorry...and have to format your drive like some people do! :p
