i finaly got my ex to start today. but somethings messed up with the timing i got it to start but the throttle kick backs when i get it around 1/4 throttle. when i set the timing i got it as close as i could and the marks on the cam still didnt line up with the head, one side was slightly higher than the other. but if i adjusted one tooth either way it would throw it even farther off. but when she started she sounded fine no backfiring or anything just throttle was kicking back.

Did you leave your choke on? Try it with the choke off

no last night when i first started it i had the chock on then i turned it off once it started running and today i started it in 30 degree weather without the choke on. i was looking at my clymer manual and theres a index on the sprocket thats suppose to be at the top of the sprocket. now im pretty sure i put it on the right way but just for i have something to go by if its upside down will that throw the timing off a little bit also.
