ok a cheap trick for a 400ex is to remove the air box lid right?
so if i take the air box lid off a lot of **** is goin to get in my AIRBOX but i gotta whitebors filter so it will be allright right????
it wont let crap get in my carb?

i dont know about that....
but it will get dirty quicker, but its not like your going to have to clean it every day, its not that bad. Just keep an eye on it and you'll be fine. Or, you could get a filtered airbox lid like the one at www.ehsracing.com, it allows the same amount of airflow, but it filters out all the water, mud, etc. I had one and i highly recommend it. And make sure you rejet if you toss the lid.

If you ride in dusty conditions then u have to worry about it. It will be fine if u clean it and take care of it. Ur going to have to rejet tho.

trx23rider put a KandN powerlid on his 400ex. that helps alot IF you are concerned about getting materials entering in your quad. it really isnt necessary and does cost alot. but you will see a couple of HP if jetted correctly.
