Lately I have been getting alot of pm's asking for pictures of different colors. What is even more surprising is that the majority of the pm's are from members with 0 posts. I would love to think folks are joining this site just to see what I am up to, or to get ideas for themselves , but what ever the reason it is happening:p

Secondly, alot of the requests ask for them to be emailed or sent back thru a pm which isnt possible. And although I am on the computer alot, I can not send pics at every request.

it looks cool, but they need alot fo light to really show themselves and when a quad is all re assembled alot of the effect just doesnt show.

cool, i was thinking either that or black so it will work out since in the dark it will look like a black, but in the light will shine!

they named this candy red metalic. its a shade or two darker then baron red with small gold flakes in it that take on the red sheen from the powder.

Pappy do you have any better pics of the silvervain with the yellow top coat? I like the yellow top coat but am really looking for a gold top coat do you have some thing like this. If so how much aprox for a 400ex frame only, with out the sub frame thanks

no i sure dont. those parts i did in that color where for some ricers and i just grabbed a few pics before they were installed.

i will play with that combo and get some better pics to see if its ok or looks like ***:p

Chrome looks more like bright silver then chrome, but from a distance most folks believe it looks close enough to call it chrome powdercoat:D

I have already seen wrinkle black, do you know if there is a wrinkle dark purple ? My frame is already transluciant purple but wearing in some areas, so to limit the hard work of extensive sand blasting to remove the old powdercoat, I'd like to go alittle darker in color and add texture to the frame and does your febuary special include the subframe also ?

yep, its dark tho being silvervein is a dark when used as a base.

Besides whats wrong with having a good looking quad? I'm sure alot of people will notice it and myself beacuse i won't just blend in. I'm also sure there will be alot of people that will ask me questions about where i got this and that. So it's all good in my book, Looking good, advertising good, feeling good, and hopefully i'll be riding good.

Trans red and fire red are so similiar that the pics woul look the same. ive stopped using trans red as i feel the fire red will be better suited to what we do with these quads, as the clear coat is madatory to acheive the color. you can apply clear to trans red, but that makes it a 3 step process and would drive cost up.

I know this is a weird request and I saw the two pics separate that you had posted, but do you have any pics of the trans purple and dormant violet together? Is there any other color very similiar to the dormant violet that isn't as tough for you to do as the dormant violet? Just wondered if there was something similiar, it would keep costs down a bit. If not, no biggie. I'm not a lover of the candy raspberry. It's too pink I think.
I wanted to know how the 2 colors would look together. Any help would be great!

they are close, and both can be done relatively easy.

dormant violet is a touch lighter then trans purple, but easier to do IMO.

getting the candy rasberry a bit darker just involves using a darker chrome base coat...ill try and see if i have some to do some test panels for ya.

I was thinking of doing half and half on a quad. Do you think the two colors would be too close alike? I have two color samples from Tiger Drylac. The pictures look pretty close alike though. I just want to make sure it doesn't look like some of the parts didn't get enough of a coat or something before I make the final decision of what parts to tell you to do which color.

Here's a couple pics of the samples I have. They look quite different from each other on these.

Anyway, we kinda think from a distance it might appear that the quad was the same color, but when ya walk up you'd notice a difference. I don't know if you have the same Tiger Drylac samples I took pics of.

Do you think it'd look good? Sorry to drive you crazy about it, just wanna be sure and this thing has to look good, we're picking up a few sponsors on this build to help us out.

yeah i can see and understand what effect your going for.

if the main frame will be one color and teh subframe another i think it will work well. if your going to try and blend the two colors at some point on the frame, it could get real fun:p

the dormant violet will go on as an opaque color, then you will have to add a chrome base for the translucent purple, cure schedule at 375 for 10 minutes, then apply the trans purple, recure 10 mins and then clear the whole thing to getr the dormant violet to react. (you may know all that, i just had to run thru it in my head to see what or where things could get goofy)

deffinatley post a few pics for me if and when you do this scheme, it should look pretty sweet

well, i will give it some thought. i think maybe doing the entire front half (frame and arms in one color, and the sub and swinger in another) may give you what you seek. ofcourse it could backfire and people will just ask wtf happened to your quad:D

if your not in a rush, i will try my best to do this process on a spare piece to see how involved it will end up being.

i don't think it will look that bad since the plastic is white. she will be changing the graphics on it also...i was thinking the hubs and the air scoops to start, that is if there are pinks out there. if not might ahve to do somthing different on my 450r. here is a pic of the 400 to give you an idea...

Jeff, white actually seems to do extremely well. I have been super satisfied with the white frames i have done

it would depend entirely on how hot they get. if they reach 250 or higher they could have problems if someones foot hit them etc. higher then 250 and the pc can become softened.

Mike, I think all the shots of that color I have are posted. It was a nice clean color. Cody says it looks great in the shot of the 400ex in the Duncan ad's that used to be in the magazines, if I find one maybe I can scan it for you.

pappy,I got my spare frame laying around,and over winter I need to do something to the quad.The frame has one of the tabs broken off right at the threads where the top of the subframe bolts onto the frame.Wondering if you could fix that also?I bought some kawi green maiers for my 450r and I have blue accents everywhere,also I got thhe ALBA black and blue graphics.What color frame and sub would you reccomend?I want something different and I want it to sparkle in the sun.How do you think a prismatic blue frame and prismatic black subframe look with the green plastic.Also if you have pics of both of them could you posty them up.Thanks
