i just put back together my engine and when i first started it up there was a loud ticking sound coming from the valves...... before i started it i adjusted my valves to what the hotcam inst. told me to do. .013 in. .015 ex. and it still ticks very loud

i put in a 416 kit 11:1 wiesco piston and stage II hotcam.

i ran it for about 10 min. like the hotcam said to do but i cut it off at 10 mins cause the header started to get red hot

i didnt change jets or nothing yet its at 155 dynojet in it now.

just cant figure out the ticking noise
any help would be great......

You need to rejet for sure. That ticking sound that you hear is most likely a result of the wrong valve clearance. Are you absolutely sure the motor was at TDC when you adjusted? Even if you are, take the valve covers off and readjust the valves. Thats probably what that ticking sound is.

did you change the copper exhaust gaskets when you put it back together. a exhaust leak at the head will make a ticking sound..
