Stock Rear Shock Adjustment

I recently purchased a used 03 400EX. My friends tell me the rear end is to soft and too low. How do you adjust it to create a bigger space between the seat and tires? Note. This does not have a lowering kit on it. I checked. Thanks in advance for the advise you are sharing.

Just crank up the preload on the rear shock's spring. Look at the spring and you will see the threaded adjustment colar. They make a special wrench to fit it or you can just use a blunt punch and a hammer.

hey the a good question ok to to the left side of ur bike and look at the back of the left side on the left side of ur shock ull see a almost like comprison box and turn it about 2 turn to the right with a flathead screw driver and it will stiffen ur back shock up quite a bit:D
