how do you change the gearing on a stock 300ex to get more top speed out of it.

change the front and rear sporcket to 13/36

thats the best gearing IMO

Nobody on this tread cares the guy is asking for gearing help not wheelie help.

If you add teeth to the front sprocket it will gear it higher, just go one at a time it makes a difference with every tooth you go up or down.

are the sprockets a pain in the butt to put on?

nah just take the chain off and the left rear wheel off and then just unbolt the rear sprocket and the front sprocket and just bolt them up

it only took me 20 min to put my new chain and sprockets on it takes no time at all and its easy.

if i do this gearin' setup will this make my bike not be able to "get off the line" as quick. and would that be a bad thing and is there a noticable diff.

You either get one or the other. I just ordered a 36T for the rear with stock front.

My friend has a 300ex and he is running a 14/33 and all you have to do is shave off a little bit off the sproket hub and it will be ready.. If you dont want to do that run a 34 in the rear.

Does anyone know the stock gearing of the 30oex (front and back)

its 13/38.

remember, tires also play a factor in the top speed/acceleration game.

Huge factor actually.

13/38 w/ 22" (stock) = 55mph
14/36 w/ 18" = 51mph
14/36 w/ 22" = 63mph
