UNI for me. K&N allow for more airflow, but also allow for more dirt:ermm:

Actually you usually vent the airbox lid with either the uni or k&n. The two intakes through the frame are tiny and really limit the air flow. He's seeing the difference between aftermarket filters on 2 difference vehicles.

To the origional poster:
What kind of riding?

MX, Sand, Drag Racing, TT, Flat Track I'd say go with K&N for more breath. (Lets in a tiny bit more dust, but nothing to worry about, I run K&N exclusively (sp?)).

XC, & Recreational Trail Riding I'd reccomend UNI for that little added filtration for a minor decrease in breathability.

But in all honesty it doesn't matter. They are both great filters and a billion times better than the stock units.

Whenever you clean them make sure you us the right type of oil. Not all filter oils are the same. K&N uses a gause type filter oil, and Uni uses a foam filter oil. The foam filter oil isn't tacky enough for the K&N filters, and the Gause type oil will clog up the uni filters.

well said. I bought a uni because it is what they had on the shelf on the dealership.

in my mind I dont see how one can noticible see a diffrence between the 2 filters power wise. besides on the dyno charts.

If you are going to run it with the lid on, you will probably not need to jet it.

I run K&N filters in all my quads. IMO they are easier to care for and are way better over the stock filter
