You can get PEP in piggyback?? Baldwin is in the process of building my shocks now. Does it cost extra for the piggyback? Any downside to it over remote rezzies?

Piggy back is the same thing as a remote reservior. The only difference is you do not have to use hose clamps to hold the reservior. There is no difference in performance.

FHKracingZ, did you get a PEP rear too?

I was under the impression that the aluminum body that held the reservoir on piggy backs also aided in cooling the shock too!? Made sense to me at the time but I never did get any proof of it!? Any thoughts on that? Sorry didn't mean to jack the post.

Sweeeeeet quad man, I am totally jealous, and thats pretty hard to do.

more thermal mass and surface area is always good for temperatures

Yeah theoretically it makes sense, and Im sure it works that way, but I haven't found any evidence to indicate that it really makes a difference on the shocks.

This is something I posted in his thread in the open forum:

correct me if I am wrong here, just something I was thinking over in my head.

by having a shorter hose like that, wouldn't it make so that the oil actually transfers more into the resevoir, as there is a smaller volume in the hose? possibly making for lower temps and possibly circulating different oil back into the shock?

putting the resevoir there would also make it so it is sticking out into quicker moving air and not blocking the radiator

I just find it had to belive that he would spend the time developing the bracketry for something that doesn't offer any benefits

Any problems with getting them to fit up underneath the fenders? Did you have to cut anything? I'm thinking about going this route with my new PEP's.

Thanks

yeah I just read the post in the open forum too, I didn't even realize they're not truly a piggy-back design. Its just a really short hose with a bracket to hold the reservoir off to the side. hmm, makes me wonder about the other companies piggy backs too.

I think some are misconstruing these new PEPs...They are still remotes, they just use a small billet clamp to hold them onto the top of the shock body..The only reason why they did this is because 1) the big bottles are a pain the the arse to mount in the front, and 2) after you get them mounted they are a pain in the arse to get to, to adjust the compression, unless you take the hood on and off. PEP has by far the best way to mount the rear resivior.

It also free's up a place to mount your steering stablizer...

If its a stick style front mount then yes, but PEPs stabalizer mounts to the right front motor mount to the stem.

well actually my friend has a stick type damper on his 450r with pep's big cans and his damper is not in the ''regular'' place , I need a pic of it , it also protects the damper a lot more his way.

We dont need a pic, we know how the PEP mounts..It only mounts one way to work correctly.
