Is it possible to put a 450r motor in a 400ex frame? has anyone ever done it?

people do the dirtbike version of the 450r engine called the crf450 so I imagine a quad engine would work too...;)

id say just find a good deal on a 450R. By the time ya buy and engine and everything that has to go with it you could about have one.

I was just inquiring, If I had ever come across a 450R motor, just wanted to know if it were possible.

well it can be done...I had a 450R motor here and tryed to put it in my ex frame just for fun...and the housing for the kickstarts hit the shock rezzie...so you would need a aftermarket rear shock with remote rezzie to make it work, the kicker, was hitting on the frame, but you could just take it off and put it a little lower on the splins to make it clear, it bolts right up to the swing arm bolt, and the swing arm fits in there perfectly, the carb would be hard to make work I think, cause it's hitting where the frame is on the back.

But it can be done..if you do it, just take your time and do it right
