View Full Version : What is that wire going to the throttle?

what is that wire going to the throttle on my yfz 450. its thin, its not the wire that goes to the carberator. can i disconnect it?

It's your Throttle Position Sensor (T.P.S.). I think it's just a safety precaution.

EDIT: Yes, I'm pretty sure that you need it on your stock carb. I am not sure about an aftermarket carb.

actually MXjunkie was right it is the T. O. R. S. Throttle over ride system. there are both system on the stock system. TPS is on the carb. TORS is on the throttle.


you can bypass it but why do it? I have not heard any problems with it and it is there for your safety. Everyone who changes to the Honda throttle connects the wires together

The only reason to disconnect it is if your adding a Honda throttle or a twist, you can do so by cutting the wires and splicing them together.
