Just bought a (new to me) 2003 400ex. I am second owner. Add-ons are Pro Circuit pipe and DG nerf bars. I have had it two weeks now. Great quad.
Question. I would like to go with a 36T what gains do I get? Extreme?

Thanks.

X-ring - $65.84
36T - $36.31
-or-
36T $18.62
One is Sunstar and other is JT.

Opinions??

I beat on the sunstars all the time ,a decent gear for the money if you havent got any real mods or high .comp piston I wouldnt gear it too much higher or youll lose top speed because the motor will be luggin & not able to turn flat out

It shouldn't be there the gear name as it should be the tooth count right? Right, 36T was the lowest tooth count I would put on it too.

Thanks for input.

I got a 39T JT for free from my cousin because he had is sitting around. I have used it this summer and it seems like it will last a long time. By the way it's a steel one.

Aluminum sprockets wear faster than steel ones.

I was runnin 15/38 gears with 22'' rear tires & its a high comp. 440 fast as hell & pretty strong but it was luggin just a bit so I threw my 14 back on the front thats with brand new rampage tires in the snow they have a hell of a lot of bite ,makes a pretty good snow blower too ! but I change my gears around often depending if Im playin in the woods , snow or goin flat out in the summer, sometimes the tire ,the conditions will determine which gear to run to the 14 will probably be faster now in the top end because it will let the engine get to max rpm & torque is always welcome.

Tire shop re-ordered my 20" tires. The ones I originally wanted

Well...done! Tire shop couldn't get them after all (well there was a 2 week wait). So they took them off the rims and gace a full refund! So I drove over to Chaparral and got the ITP (6 ply) 20x11x9 and sprung for new 22x7x10 ITP fronts too (6 ply). Looks like a new quad all over again! To late to test drive it tonight with the pipe and all. They look the same as the Maxxis RazR though.

Thanks for all your input! The 36T sprocket and chain isn't in yet will post back with how that works out.
