OK, so I decided that while I'm home on R&R I'm gonna pick up two new factory case halfs, order my big bore kit, bring the whole kit and caboodle here and do the whole build up here. So I'm looking up my BB kit, and all that jazz, can I use a newer motor in my 86 frame or am I stuck with just that engine? I dont mind either way, just curious. Also, is there any performace difference between a 86 and the later years?

He means yes, you can use any year motor in any year frame. And no, there is no real performance difference between 86 and other years. I know that the 86's are short rod motors and they rev faster or something like that. I am not positive though, I'm kinda new to 250r's.

Ok, thanks and one last question, in an 86 frame would I have to mod the engine mounts to mount a new(er) engine?

so I lied, two more, will any crank case cover fit, or are they year specific?

No you wont haveto mod the mounts, and I'm not sure about the sidecover. That one if for a more 250r knowledgeable person.
