the title explains itself. i got some motor mods too, je 87mm piston, hot cam stage 2, and lrd headpipe and i figure i might as well take the choke out at the same time. now the article says size 42 but that's with a stock ex. so what size pilot jet you guys think i should run? what about the main jet...i'm running a 158 w/ a slip on right now.

and for the guys w/ xr 400 gaskets: will i have to worry about the clearance between the piston and the valves - i am running a je 10.8:1. thanks a lot

The stock pilot is 38. When I took my chock off I went up to a 45 and a 160 on the main with my 440 and it would run with any thing.

was it worth it taking out the choke?

and what about the valve clearance, anybody got any input on that?

I don't think that removing the chock is that much of a help. If you want to go ahead and take it out, there will be a very small increase. The values will still be set at the reg numbers.

there is a very nice difference. run the 42 give her three pumps on the gas all the way. Starts every time jb weld the holes left from taking it out. Dremel those flat tabs off too. That is what i did it works pretty good. I think I wrote a thread on this a while back check my history.
