i got a 05 400ex and im gettin the motor built after christmas. im gettin a stage 2 hotcam(ordered 2day), and a piston. im gonna get it bored to 416 with either a JE 10.8 or a wisco 11-1. i would like to run pump gas but i will run 110 if i have to. my question is do i need to run race gas with a 10.8? if i dont have to is it worth runnin race gas and goin with a wisco 11-1? i ride alot of trails. about half slow trail ridin and half high speed and racin. i dont want to hurt the reliablity any, will this hurt the engine at all? how much of a power gain will i notice over my stock engine with pipe?

pump gas will be perfectly fine for those comp ratios ,you only need to get high test or additives at 12 + ratios I run 12.5 & need to run about 105 reliability will still be good & should be much more potent than stock

what about 93octane? will it have alot of carbon build up?

The temp and elevation will also be a determining factor on higher octane fuel... I run the JE 10.8:1 with thinner gaskets and when it is really hot out I have to run a mix of race gas and I am at 2900 ft.

Agree with Colby.

I run 11:1 in my 330ex. It runs great with 91 octane premium pump, but on the 90deg+ days I have to mix some race fuel into it to keep it from detonating. (Don't use octane booster, besides real race fuel is cheaper than a booster anyway).
