Shocks shot?

My 300ex sits a little crooked and when I push down on the front bumper it will make a hissing noise at it compresses and it doesn't rebound back up like I think it should. What happens when good shocks turn bad? Should I be lookin for some new shocks? Thanks in advance.

Dont wait too long, I snapped one of my front shocks in half, it wasnt pleasant...........I have a second set of stockers on, waiting to get enough $$ for some decent ones
