i like the rad valve for the simple reason as it requires less rubber in the connection from the intake to the carb, so there is less of a chance of the rubber cracking and not be noticed and sucking sand...

I have tried many different reed blocks and always go back ot the Radvalve. It has good lowend response and still pulls on top without flutter. I also like the standard fiberglass reeds over the carbon fiber. I haven't had very good luck with the life span on the carbon fiber, they tend to chip and frey at the tips.

I had the VForce 2 and now VForce 3 and the Vforce 3 work better than the 2's.......they are a little smoother than the 2's.....I never got a good hit on the bottom or off of idle...cause all the Rad valve reeds seem to hang open just a touch....if you look at them from the side you can see it...the VForces don't do that....they are recessed......this is just my opinion

I know this is a old thread, but you still think the rad valve (250R is better than the V force reeds, I have a set of both VF 2 and the Rad Valve wondering which ones to run.
Do some have the rad valve ported and polished . seem there is some hidden potentail in that rad valve

I'd also be interested. I'm running the V2 now, but heard that the Rad valve is better for low end, and I could use that.

I know this isnt the For Sale section and im not trying to jack the thread but I do have a RAD VALVE for sale for $120 shipped. It may need new pedals but its still a good price, also comes with an intake boot. Its the older style which I have been told by a few that these flow better than the newer style.

Heres some things you might want to know.

The replacement reed petals for the V force cage run over $100.00 a set.
The Rad Valve Pro set, 2 stage carbon fiber & fiberglass around $45.00.
A number RL-19 fiberglass reed petals are offered for the Rad Valve & run around $28.00 & will last longer than the C/F ones.

The CR Rad Valve is made shorter & just a slite difference in angle than the Rad Valve made for the TRX engine.
With the CR valve being shorter the carb sits closer to the cylinder & it makes jet changing harder, But, its said closer you can get the carb to the cylinder, better the engine performs.

There youst to be 2 different Rad Valves offered for the TRX engine. One was open on the inside & the other had the cross bars down in it like the CR250R Honda reed cage.
The old model went away & all you can get now is the new one with the cross bars inside.

FTZ Racing, offers a modified Rad Valve, one thats open on the inside but runs around 179.95.

i've used one in the past and liked it. it doesnt compare to the rad valve but still a good alternative.

I hope the rad valves are as good as you guys say, I just picked up a brand new TRX one from flea bay for $95 shipped.

So besides what Neil mentioned are there any other differences that make the CR one better then the TRX one?

the only improvement/difference that comes to mind would be in the profile behind the reeds and/or the i.d. of the opening(at the carb). i dont know this for certain as i've never compared the two.
