View Full Version : Aftermarket Batteries for 400EX?

My battery took a dump on me and i was wondering wht kinda battery i can use? i heard like a yz 426 or yz 400, but i cant remember which. and help would be appreciated. Thanks

No i need a YZ426 or YZ400 i just forgot which one...i dont wanna buy anything yamaha but i gotta do what works!

Check out the parts guy at your local Honda dealer and tell him you want a different battery. The one you want is off a street bike. I cant remember which bike its off of, but XC racers use this particular battery because it ables the quad to start much faster than the stock batt.

Brand? EEEK!! I cant remember to save the life of me. Something in my so called brain is telling me its off of a Yamadog street bike.:(

the patr # is YTX12-BS you must do some cuttin to the battery box to make it fit. it has 80 more cold crankin amps than the stock battery

400ex127, Are you still Selling those Battery Cables? I just wanted to know if those would help the 400 start better or faster?

yes...the test units are out and nothin but good results. i will be selling them . they will help the 400 start faster and are alot better then the stock cables. if you also upgrade to the higher cca battery you will be very satisfied. jeff@thequadshop will be doing a write up on them so keep an eye out for it!

Well if they help it start faster and better then I want some. I`m not going to worry about getting a different Battery right now. The Stock one should be ok for the Local Races. I may get the GSXR Battery some day, but I don`t want to just rig something up to hold it on. I wonder if that Battery would fit in one of the Aftermarket Airboxes? That`s what I would do. Right now though I need more important things and just want to see how the Cables help it. Once I get some extra Money I will PM you about the Cables.

YEAH..i wonder bout them fitting in the aluminum airbox myself. i will have to check that out
