what quad for racing

im 15 and currently have a 300 ex...what should i get since i want to start racing...i was thinking a predator, z400, 400ex, or raptor...i must pay fopr it so i cant get a yfz or trx...plaese ntell what is hould go with and y

if your not that big i think that you should just stick with the 300 and use the money that you didnt use to buy the other quad and mod the 300

you can picked up used 400ex's dirt cheap now. that would be an excellent choice for starting out.

I love yamahas but stay away from the raptor unless your doing strat line drag racing.

what kind of racing and how big or small are you?

You can buy a nice used race ready 400ex or z400 for a decent price now adays. Either is a great choice.

Why not get a 450r or YFZ , If you search around a little, I have seen several go for $4k or less on these boards, If you must buy it yourself why not get the best first, in stead of buying a 400 ex or a Z now and buying another atv in a year or so.

i am about 155 lbs adn am 6 foot 1 inch. Pretty big for 15 and have plenty of strength. I can handle all the quads fine as far as i no..ridden a trx 450

yea you can pick up a used 400ex and sometimes a used ltz/kfx for cheap definately not the raptor

If you seriously want to get into racing, a 450 is pretty much the only way to go. Just keep your eyes open and you can find one for pretty cheap.

i agree about the 450 but want to buy soon and i dont have much work in the winter just summer...plus i have to buy a truck...but anyway my only concern with the ltz400s is that the frames are real weak...is this true

if you can work on your quad and dont mind mixin gas then get a 250r. you can get a modded one that will beat a 450 for really cheap.

Theres notin wrong w\ a Raptor unless ur plannin on racin MX....but im 5'7 and only 117lbs and i Raced a Raptor all season.....There great Quads if u know ur Riding style, but there are other options, but if u find a good Raptor out there dont hesitate 2 look into it more:D

I would sugguest getting a stock 450. My buddy has a modded 440ex and I can wax him on a stock 450. Just keep watching. Like others said, you can get one for around $4k. Either that or go with a 400ex that is soaked in parts so that you will have a good chance at the races.

i know im gonna get *****ed at for saying, but you can buy a banshee for real cheap now. They deffiantly have the motor to take a 450 on a MX track if they are setup for lowend and if you get some suspension (which you should for MX) itll ride like a dream and keep up with the best of 'em

why get a banshee or 400 when you could get a 250r that will dominate them? why do you think the pros used to ride those before the 450s and most of them will say the 250 is just as fast and has better handling.

I can handle my 450 fine, and i'm 15, weigh 115 and im about 5'4"... just keep lookin on what u think u want tho, u'll probably be wanting something faster.
