next project? 426ex?

[Honda TRX250ex]

I have been thinking about new quad project for next year.
I just got done with my 250x. I'm gonna work all spring and summer and hopefully sell my quad for around 2000$ and have about another 1500$ from working. Than im gonna buy a 400ex and countuine working and in winter im gonna strip it down and put all these after market parts on it.
I'm woundering what do you guys think about it and what would you change here my list.

all of that comes out to around $4000 and i dont want to go over $4000

get a port and polish and then get a bigger carb sparks exhaust and fullbore plastic with h bomb graphics

I would do my top A-arms like textured black or some other color besides candy blue. You dont want to much blue. Maybe even have the top arms chromed. That will look good. And when you rebuild it make sure you clean all of the little parts. like scrub the motor if its stained and any other aluminum part that is stained that will make a big difference. And try polishing some stuff too.;)

ill probly get it port and polished and a 450r carb later on
i dont want a sparks because im gonna make dual exhaust and im not a really big fan of H bomb graphic. i dont want to go over 4000$ in after market parts so no fullbores :(

yeah i was thinking about a gloss black. Im gonna polish the bottom end of the motor and probly PC the fins and have the edges sliver

lol buy a 450r if you want something fast and mod it out as u have it

450r used-$5000
aftermarket parts -$5000
total about $10000

400ex-$3000
aftermarket parts-$4000
total about $7000

15 year old + 2 jobs = not worth it 450r when i could get a 426ex
get what im getting at?

i dont need it to be super fast. I just want a badass quad that is quick on a track

when you get it youll know what im talking about but basically untill you have all your motor and suspenison done i wouldnt even think about buying plastic or graphics really, i mean if you didnt buy plastic you could get better shocks besides most maiers dont last very long before the rears droop and or crack (stick with stock fenders or go fullbore)

It might be nice, but its gonna suck when it comes time to sell it. You are going to lose a ton of money on it. I really wanted to build an ex as well, but I couldnt justify spending the extra $4,000 +

I thought the KTM's were 525's and yes any ktm 4-stroke motor would rip on a quad they are niclely built motors my dad has a ktm

from a former ex rider...i would not worry about the body just yet...shave the front fenders which is no money...go ahead and put the eyeball engineering arms on it they are good...then just put a 416 kit in it so it will rev like hell...if you want a good and cheap port job PM me b/c i got a guy here in town that did my yfz and is DAM good...he is a specialist check www.planetsand.com for his info on banshee cylinders...i mean DAM good...he has a stock bore banshee at 98 hp right now..he can port...and then on the rear just get a shock and an axle..dont worry about the swingarm till you get some extra cash...

so scrape the plastic and put it to like a rear shock or get some elkas or a steering stem you guys are saying?
maybe my parents would buy me some fullbores for X mas next year
