Help Tierod ends ball joints install

I have to put my tierod ends back on. They were eazy to get off but how do you put them back on. I tried to just place the tierod end in the spindle hole and then tighten untill it seated its self but it stripped. I also tried to hammer it on but thats not working. Do I have to use a pressed. If so then I will have to take the spindles off the a-arms and thats another nightmare.
