How does it ride. Is it hevy in the front ? Looks good if it works good. Better then it was.

Now go hog wild on the motor and punch it and get some HP!:D

It rides great. the front end beleive it or not is about the same, the stock leading arm is about 1/4" steel its really heavy, the little extra weight you gain is a small sacrifice for the handleing,,,ya the motor is next but i have to wait for the wife to forget about this mod before i go to the next:D I also addded a rear shock from a crf70 which helped out the lack of suspension in the rear

Yea now you have some suspension. It's nice doing all this stuff to the quads along with the boy. To build a mini and watch them ride is the fun of it all. Glad to see a good improvement for the Yammy riders.

They are a nice mini also. They should fix the front end, they would sell more.

I set the ride height 1" taller than stock and raised the steering stem 1" also

This will get a small cross brace right in front of the body mount, but im waiting for my bumper to get in before i locate the brace

White7

Cross brace where the upper a arms tie into the frame, the bottom just slids right in between the exsisting frame rails,no cross brace required,i just used the exsiting blaster one, slide right in with a little grinding

My total cost was about $300(includes frame, shocks, new rims,a arms, complete spindles and brakes, nuts bolts and spray paint)

Total labor was 12 hours(3 hours after work for 4 days)

We hit the trails and tested her out this weekend, everything was flawless and the boy did much better, higher speeds and a lot more control

Nice job White7,

I have been thinking about performing this modification for my sons raptor for months. I did motor first and have far exceeded the suspensions capibility.

Did you cut up a blaster frame for the front section and weld it on or fabricate from raw tubing?

White7

Thanks,,,yes I cut a Blaster frame and used the lower section(upper and lower a arm mounts) and cut the top off, when the lower section was welded in place i cut the top section down to meet the raptor frame,i have a pic of what im talking about let me find it

White7

Found it,You can kind of see what im talking about,In this pic im fitting up the shocks for the upper bars and the mounts

Another thing that made it easy was i was able to use the stock blaster steering stem mount, the shaft is the same dia. but its about 1/16" shorter so i used a couple of stainless spacers with a 5/8" ID and it fit up perfectly

So basically for the blaster frame fit up,i just mounted the steering stem to the lower half of the blaster frame and kept removing material untill the steering stem mount was seated

Excellant, i think it will be easier that way. Trying to bend the tubing to exact uniform dimensions is what has been holding me back from attempting.

If you don't mind can you email me some of the pics in better resolution?

Pics sent,,One thing i forgot to mention is make sure you spread the top bars enough to clear the air box, from the pics you can see the stock intake snorkel fits right back in,and for the fender mounts you just cut the tabs of the stock bumper and weld em to the frame,i didnt make a mount for the front ,(right below the air box) because it wasnt needed

I hope you both dont do this because i wanna be be the one with the raptor where everybody says" what the hell is that"

recieved the pictures. thank you. as far as doing this i'm afraid i'm going to have to sorry. my daughter has a bunch of years ahead of her on the raptor and i think it only fair she gets a real suspension ( even more so now that you've shown me the way ) but i will do my best to keep it away from nevada, shouldn't be hard living in michigan. and will definetly give you all the credit.thanks again and i will look you up when i get around to doing it and send you pics. i'm quite sure it wont look as great as your's but hopfully as functional.

now where am i gonna find a cheap blaster to butcher ????
thanks again

Thanks for the pics.

I am definitly going to do this as well. As far as for the airbox it is not used with a the K&N air cleaner so i might even see about keeping the shock support all the way accross. I dunno we will see how it ends up.

Thanks again for the post and pics

For real. I would like to try something like that, but am affraid to tackle it. I have a suzuki 230 rolling chassis that i think would work. Since i came across this thread again, i got motivated .
