300ex or 400ex?

in febuary im gettin about $3500 and i was wandering what would be a better quad considering how long it lasts mostly.i need a dependable quad. any advice will help.

either quad is reliable. it depends on what kind of riding you are doing. if you ride mostly trails then get the 300 because of the reverse.

the 400ex is a really great quad, so is the 300ex, the 300ex performs just as well as the 400ex, it may go 5-10 mph slower oh well, when you and your buddies are in the mud and y'all hit a big mudhole, no one will laugh at the slower 300ex that is backing out of the mudhole to hit it again, reverse is a life saver, and yes the new 400's got reverse, but they are $5,500.

that pic could very well have a better rider on the 330ex, or the 400ex could have had a problem...it is not uncommon at some point in a race to see a smaller, less capable machine ahead of the larger, better bike...there are too many factors to figure in in that situation...

i remember when the fst 330 article was run in atv sport or dirt wheels, i actually contacted them about doing modifying my 300ex like that...i decided it wasn't worth the money...as the article said it would make it pretty close to a stock 400ex, not beat it. having had both, i honestly don't think i could have made the 300ex perform as well as the 400ex, and keep any relaibilty to the 300ex...don't get me wrong the 300 is a great bike, but it don't compare to the 400...

Actually if you look at the picture a little closer you will notice that the 300ex has the "good line" the 400ex is taking the "bad line".

Why, you ask? Well there's 1 of 4 reasons.
1)The 400ex is limping back to the pits due to problems and is staying out of the middle of the track.
2)The 400ex is in a "beginner" class and being passed by a higher class racer.
3)The 400ex is the nicest racer in his class because he kindly moves out of the good line to let his opponents pass, or a lower class racer to pass.

4)The most likley option is the 400ex is in fact in the process of passing the 300ex.. lol.

actully, he's pullin' over to let the 330ex pass him, after the pic was taken there was a long straight away and the 400ex indeed did try to pass him, but he failed, because the 330 ex is faster. my friend, raced the Senior class on a 427ex, built out of a 300ex, and beat 440ex's and stayed with 450r's, so if y'all don't belive me that's cool, I least I know the facts!:p

It really depends on what you want to use it for. With a 300ex you can race it against other 300's, blasters, ect. But with a 400ex, you will have to race it against other 400's/450's. I'd take a 300ex IMO. If your serious about racing, then 450's are the way to go for a bigger class, but if you want to race the sport class, or blaster class, get a 300.

i turned around and the craptor was waaaaayyyyyyyy behind...the guy said he was already in 5th when i took off and i just kept pulling away...he said he thought he was gonna get me, especially with the run he had on me...i guess not...i think his comment after that was that he should have spent the extra money for the 400ex...
