440 big bore kit

I just got a 440 bigbore kit was gonna go with the 426 but decided to get the 440. anyways it came in yesterday and i was looking at the piston and the sleeve, and the piston dont fit in the sleeve. does the sleeve need to be bored when its installed?

if it doesn't fit, my guess would be yes....but i am not a technical expert....

yes, the cylinder must be bored to accect the new sleeve, then the sleeve needs to be bored to accept the new piston. most 440 sleeve will accept a 426 piston. Plus every piston is diferent. due to the manufacturing process, there are slight variances in the size so in order to properly bore the cylinder you must first have teh piston you are going to use, not a similar one.

yea i just droped it off at a local engine shop hes knows what hes doin hes done them before. but it sucks cause he aint gonna be able to get to right away cause hes got other stuff hes got to get done so i aint gonna get it till next wed.
