I like chevys but this season hire at my job has a 2005 super duty ford f350 turbo diesel with a intercooler an a bill banks turbo 5 inch pipe and it just whistles so loud when its idles up it almost hurts your ears.He has a 4 inch lift leather seats the works. He said he saved from 14 to 21 to get that truck paid cash for it.Atleast thats what he says.got ALLOT done to it.

i went hunting on christmas eve last year with my buddy in his old ford.. we got in the truck and was leaving, turned on the heater and i asked. hey its kinda foggy in here.. he said no its not its outside.. then we smelled smoke rolled down the windows and it got thicker!!! we popped the hood and a huge flame popped out. There was pinestraw in a heating element that controlled the heater and stuff and it caught on fire... needless to say, we watched that old ford burn to the ground and seen its two gas tanks expload. Thank god we got the 4 wheeler out the back and the guns and all the ammo out the front. what a experience:D :blah:

i like the Chevy/GMC's, but Dodge has the motor to beat em all, Cummins. I am a diehard chevy fan, but want a cummins so bad i can taste it. Fords just do nothin for me, dont like the looks, motor, or really anything. i love the look of the 01-02 Chevy HD trucks and the 73-87 body style. Me too, but only since the current body style came out in '99. Much more aggressive style to the hood and grille. Prior to 99 I'd have to go with Chevy, especially 94-98, best looking Chevy trucks EVER.

There's a lemon in every brand... You will also hear a dozen complaints about every brand but hardly hear how much people are happy. To each their own. I personally loved all my Chevy's but now have a 05 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a Cummins and love it.

I saw a truck test and after comparing half-ton trucks they said if there was a truck with a ram body, titan engine/transmission/frame, and the chevy interior you have the perfect truck.

But since there is nothing like that just go with a Chevy.:D

All companies have their perks, one guy will give an example of why a chevy is junk, then give an example of a ford that is great, or an examply of way dodge is junk, then why chevy is great. They are all pretty close. With full size trucks, it all comes down to gas or diesel. Chevy has the worse diesel engine. It would be a tough choice between the cummins and the powerstroke. If it was gas, I would buy the new chevy 6.0 liter, most power out of all the gas. But I would not buy this year, because all 1st year systems have problems that are worked out within the 1st year. I heard rumors that chevy was gonna put a Caterpillar diesel in its truck, which that would probably blow away all the other competition. If they would, I would buy it because I would know that the truck would last for half a million miles. But I doubt that since Ford and Cat are in bed together. And I don't watch commercials or read car and driver or any kind of publication, because they are all biased. O yea final thought, american made diesels cant tough foreign diesel with a 10 foot stick.

The 6.0 or the 7.3? And I know for a fact that your friend has not had any problems with 170k miles. Its impossible. NO truck of any sort will go that long without having an alternator, water pump, fuel pump, battery, etc... going up.

2001-2003 durmax diesels were 300hp & 520ft/lb (LBY) then 2004-2005 were 310hp & 600ft/lb (LLY) and new for 2006 is 360hp &650ft/lb (LBZ).
next time take a better look at what you are reading.

The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 debuts an all-new version of the Duramax 6600 turbo-diesel V8 engine as an option. When combined with the optional all-new Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission, the new Duramax 6600 delivers more power with 360 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The power increase comes with lower emissions and significantly improved quietness and smoothness. The Duramax 6600 features the capability of the variable-geometry turbocharger to provide exhaust braking with this function available on some medium duty truck models. With the new system, engine-braking is controlled by a signal from the engine controller and can be activated by the driver. The optional Allison 1000 is the first six-speed automatic offered in the category and is available with either the Duramax 6600 6.6-liter V8 diesel or the Vortec 8100 8.1-liter V8 engine.

you work on these things for a career? are you actually qualified or are you one of those dumbasses that work at the dealership tech shop? don't know your *** from a hole in the ground?

the ONE thing you can't deny about the duramax if you hate it is that it is THE fastest of the big 3 in a drag.

cummins is a big slow pig of an engine

6.0L- if you can keep the POS from blowing injectors then it may stand a chance. it can because it's got a lower gear ratio for 1st (i'm talking automatics for all 3) than the other two, and it revvs pretty high.

i own a duramax. an 05. that i worked my *** off for 5 straight years into savings for.

is it because they "have the least power and torque of all the 3" that they don't get 35 f'ing mpg?

a friend of mines got an 01 dodge cummins 6spd with a $4,000 double overdrive gearvendor only gets 29mpg on the freeway unloaded. that's something like 1400rpm @ 65mph

NOTHING that weighs >7,000lbs gets that kind of fuel economy, double overdrive, pane, strong tail wind, nothing.

Your just you're average know it all *******. You dont know ****. You think that what you bought is the best. You are just saying this to justify having bought the truck you did. Ive only heard of 1 injector going up in a 6.0, and thats only because he hadn't changed the fuel filter in 50k miles.

I dont know where you are coming from. Go to the websites and see what the engines specs are. I never said they had good fuel economy. I disaggreed with him. Lay off of the dope man. I love how people get on the internet with their big e-ego, and try to start an e-fight.

i will tyr to get a pic. up sometime i have a 04 Dodge "he** yea it's a HEMI" it's lifted and i have 44" mudders on my factory 20's it look's so awsome. i have rescued a few Wranglers already, and some yuppie H2's ,pulled my brothers 05 ford king rancher out of a hole already. side swipped some tree's already, and my mailbox. so it's all dented up. but it's awsome that way. it's just a truck. i have nobody to impress. so i don't fix it. i stand by my dodge all the way. i like chevys to. i used to own one. but it isn't anymore. had some problems from the get go. had 26 miles on it and it died. bad alternator. 403 miles and the motor went. a crash and burn episode happened to her. but i still loved it. im now a dodge man though.

I have a ford crew cab diesel i went with ford because it had more leg room in the back seat.I had this truck for three months and have 13000 miles on it already she is my race truck and sure beats the GMC Cube van i used to drive. They are all nice trucks i am only brand loyal to Honda.

thats because most chevys dont last long enough to catch fire, 20 miles isn't very far for the money you spend on the junk
