On a 400ex with only the 416, I would ditch that 16t front sprocket and run the stock setup with a 15t-38t or even a 14t-38t.

I know that my 416 was a great motor, The lightweight piston made for faster revs, whitch made for good holeshots!

My 416 was way better than stock, But flat out i couldnt hang with a 450. Now While racing if you hold your line and keep them WFO then its gona take a pretty agressive rider to make the pass on a well built 400ex.

What piston did you use? Most of the ones I've seen were barely lighter than the stock piston if they were lighter at all.

I ment lighter piston, than say a 425-or 440 motor.

My 416 would have left my 426 in the dirt till mid 3rd gear!

I used a Wiesco 11:1 piston, But If i where to only race, i would have bumped up my compression a bit more.

Now my 426 pulled way harder past 3nd gear than my 416. But it just didnt seem to have that snap that the 416 gave in the low gears!
