I recently put a hole in one of my cases while riding.I have bought a good case from an '04 to replace the damaged one but a friend told me that cases are sold together because they match.

Because they match? Do you think the factory made seperate molds for every case they produce? Or machine each one differently? The one you bought should bolt up fine.

The only problem I could see is where the cylinder bolts on, if one side was higher/lower than the other. I've seen motors built with one different case such as your example so I would hardly call that a guess.

you can buy seperate ones and have a shop match them together. I bought 2 different 250R cases, and had my shop match them together. Nothing a dial indicator and a good ol bridgeport can't fix.
