Is this normal?

Tore the top end off my R tonight. When I rotate the crank, the crank halves on each side of the rod pick up some oil. The oil seems to be real sticky. At first I thought it was tranny fulid, but the consistence of the oil was not thin & slippery like 10/w40 oil. Maybe I'm wrong. This is the second top end I've had off and there has been oil round the crank. I know the bottom end gets oiled from the gas. Does this oil gas mixture collect a little in the bottom end? Is this normal? Or should it be dry?

Thanks guys. On The first motor, I thought the main seals were bad. I got another motor off ebay and it was the same after i pulled the topend off. I'll slap the topend together tomorrow and torque everything down and say the hell with it !!
